cohen's monthly photos // 3 months

one of the things i was really excited about when i was pregnant with cohen, was the photos we were going to take every month of him to chart his growth! i had seen so many ideas on instagram and pinterest, but i wanted to branch out a little and do something a bit different. i found these ADORABLE blocks online and thought, these will be SO perfect to highlight what month he is, and then later on, serve as an educational toy!

cohen jennings holmes is here!

on january 15, 2015 {my due date!}, we welcomed cohen jennings holmes into our lives!! it was a crazy day and didn't go as planned but at 3:07 in the afternoon, our first son was born! he weighed 8 pounds and 8 ounces and was 19 inches long with a little bit of dark hair! we are over the moon in love with this baby and feel so blessed he's healthy!

2014 year in review

2014 was an amazing year! we are so blessed to have spent such great time with family & friends, go on trips and finally, the highlight of our year - finding out we were going to have our first baby!

the end of january, we went to vail with some of our dearest friends, michael & christy and their sweet daughter, harper! we had an absolute blast relaxing in the mountains and getting to ski for a week! check out our highlight video of the week here!

one of our new favorite traditions is the frederick oyster fry! this marked our second year making the drive to southern oklahoma for the amazingly delicious fried oysters! we always eat so much and it's always so worth it! check out the deliciousness here from our video in 2013!

two of my goals were fulfilled this month as i was featured on two of my most favorite blogs: style me pretty living & the little umbrella! the smp living featured our girls retreat styled shoot i helped plan and on the little umbrella, my nephew, henry's 1st birthday party was featured! i feel beyond blessed to be on these websites and still have to pinch myself that it happened!

the ou football team hosted a women's tee clinic at the stadium in march and me and my female co-workers got to go behind the scenes all day! that meant getting to hang out with bob stoops & blake bell and i even kicked (and made!!) 2 field goals - even michael hunnicutt was pretty impressed with my skills!

in march, another career goal of mine was fulfilled: i had a product that was sold in a store! our recipe cards that we featured in the girls weekend styled shoot were sold at the florist + home store, dutch, in oklahoma city! a dream come true!

aric ran his first half marathon in oklahoma: the oklahoma city memorial! he did such an amazing job and i'm always so impressed by his ability to compete! it was a hot hot morning, but he finished at 1:34:10, before it got too unbearable to run! perhaps cohen and i can join him in the 5k this year!

may was by far the most exciting month this year: we found out we were having a baby! we were over the moon and immediately started planning for this precious life we were going to bring into the world in january!

we went back to colorado in june for one of our dear friend's wedding and got to spend time with both our families and see friends! one of the highlight's of this trip was getting to tell aric's brother he was going to be an uncle and aunt b & uncle jeff that we were pregnant! i am so glad we were able to do that in person - their reactions were priceless! another highlight of this trip was serendipitously meeting hilary clinton at the tattered cover book store!

june was a big month for weddings! we also celebrated my little cousin's marriage to her sweet fiancé, ryan!

july marked another hot month in oklahoma and we spent the majority of it outside and in the pool! fireworks, grilling and being pregnant with my best friends & sister pretty much summed up the entire summer!

on august 6, i turned 30! holy cow - 30 years old! how did that happen? we celebrated with family and close friends on the rooftop of packards in oklahoma city! it was an absolute blast and i feel so blessed to have such amazing people in my life to celebrate with!

one of finley's favorite things to do at the end of the summer is the doggie swim day at westwood pool! i think she would play in the pool all day long if she had her way! meanwhile, kaia just toodles around making new friends!

in september, my sweet sister and bestest friends threw me the most gorgeous baby shower for baby cohen! it was filled with my favorite things and i felt so overwhelmed with love and happiness, it was almost more than i could stand!

in october, we ventured down to dallas for the annual ou-texas football game at the cotton bowl! it was definitely a different weekend for me being pregnant, but still tons of fun! the weather was actually cold this year and we won! two great things that can happen during ou-tx!

on november 5 at 5:57 am, i became an aunt again to my precious niece: monroe scarlett carter! she is so perfect, little and oh so sweet! i got to spend the day with henry and take him up to the hospital to meet his little sister! it was the first time i had ever seen a baby so fresh (30 minutes after birth) and being 2 months away from giving birth myself, i was overwhelmed with emotions! it was such an amazing moment to be apart of! welcome to the world sweet girl!

we also had some crazy fall & winter-like weather in november! here are the girls at the park just a couple of days apart! one day, it's a beautiful fall afternoon and the next, a blistering snowy cold day!

something i did not expect to come out of the girls weekend styled shoot that i was a part of was being featured in PRINT - in an actual MAGAZINE! whoa - this is seriously a dream come true! my business, work and photo were in print for all the world to see!

we spent this holiday season in norman, due to me not being able to travel so close to my delivery date. christmas is one of our favorite holidays and we love being able to decorate the house, watch christmas movies and spend time with our friends & family! it was also a time of making sure we get everything ready for mr. cohen jennings to come into the world!

the beginning of decemeber, we celebrated my precious nephew's 2nd birthday - complete with a mickey mouse themed party! where did the time go and how is he already 2? it feels just like yesterday he was born! even sweet miss monroe dressed up in her minnie mouse best for her big brother!

it's always so crazy seeing one of my designs being posted on social media by someone else! here's one from our styled shoot that style me pretty living featured on their instagram at the end of the year! hooray!

we celebrated the last day of the year at blu - complete with a delicious 5 course meal and ready to bring on 2015! cheers!

this summer we finally started getting to work on little man's room! here's a preview of where we were before and a quick shot of mr. holmesy before it all got started...

in august, we finally decided on a crib! we looked for months and months searching online and in stores for the perfect bed for mr. cohen and we finally stumbled upon this gorgeous traditional design in all places, target! we ended up having enough money leftover from returns and in gift cards to purchase it! even better!

aric found cohen's dresser at his work one day and we absolutely love it! it's a piece he'll have forever. the inside of the drawers are lined in cedar so every time you open them, it smells so fresh!

halfway through the room design! we finally got the navy drapes hung! after looking through thousands of curtain ideas, i decided to just order plain navy fabric and have the hems sewn! such an easy and inexpensive project! i love that it brings out the navy in the rug!

we still haven't decided if we want to get a door or hide his closet with a curtain, so this part is still up in the air! but i love the print to the left of the closet - it was the fingerprint guest book at my baby shower and it features a hand drawn giraffe with "welcome cohen jennings holmes." it makes me so happy to look at it and all the fingerprints that love and adore our baby son already!

another thing that makes me smile is seeing his name on stuff! we had his hamper liner embroidered with his name and it just makes everything seem so real!

featured in his crib is the first gift we bought him - a giraffe that plays a lullaby when you pull his neck! i've played it for the girls many a time to get them ready to hear it a bunch for their brother!

oh my gosh, i think our rocker is my favorite part of his room (thank you mom & tom)! it is so comfortable and so gorgeous and i just can't wait to rock our sweet boy in it! the other finishing touch in the room were the letters we found serendipitously at a local store in norman! we had been discussing what to put over his crib and after we found those letters, we knew that was it! everything fell into place after that! we also got a little table to put some of his book and sound machine on!

dad hanging out in his son's room!

another fun surprise we got was from my sister about a month ago! she had this gorgeous wreath made that features cohen's name! i love that it's hung on his door - it goes perfectly with his entire nursery! i also cannot wait to show him my most favorite giraffe photograph that i got from all my baby shower hostesses whenever we change his diaper! it's the cutest thing ever!

happy thanksgiving to all! we celebrated with 2 lovely thanksgivings full of family and tons of food! it was a perfect day to eat my favorite dishes and dessert! i think you enjoyed it too because you have been a little wiggle worm all week long! you should weigh about 4 pounds now and be close to your birth length! some days i think i can actually feel you growing and my bump is expanding at each second!

thanksgiving morning, i took fin to go watch aric run in the norman 5k turkey trot! he placed 5th overall! woohoo!

our last thanksgiving as a family of four!

31 weeks

it's november 16 and we are having our first snow of the year! we just had your final ultrasound this past week and we found out you have hair! we can't wait to see if it will blonde and curly like your daddy's or brown like your momma's! cohen jennings, you weigh 3 pounds 7 ounces and are getting bigger each day!

happy halloween

this year we dressed up the girls in halloween costumes since we were going trick or treating around our neighborhood with the rife's! finley was a lion and kaia was a horse with a jockey! they were the cutest dressed up dogs in the area!!

28 weeks

i am 28 weeks this week, which means i'm finally in the third trimester! whoa. that is so crazy. this pregnancy feels like it's just flying by! i can't believe in 11 short weeks we get to meet our sweet little pumpkin! happy halloween!

26 weeks

26 weeks at OU-TEXAS this year which was quite a different trip for me! we had an absolute blast beating texas and that always makes the trip the icing on the cake! my ever growing cohen bump was quite apparent and he loved the game! he was definitely practicing his horns down!

23 weeks

it's fall {kind of} in norman and i'm so excited for leaves changing, pumpkin pie spice everything and leggings! quick shot of my every growing belly on campus! happy 23 weeks to me and i'm feeling great! cohen has really started kicking this week - he's one little active boy! and i've started to have real dreams of him this week - they are so life like it makes me so excited to meet our sweet little man!

orr family farm with henry

our first outing to the amazing orr family farm was this weekend with my sister and nephew! we had an absolute blast! we rode a carousel, a train, played on slides, petted goats and pigs, ate homemade fudge, picked up pumpkins and watched henry ride his first pony, buttercup! henry had such a great time and i can't wait until next year when we'll have cohen and monroe in tow!

a baby shower for cohen jennings

i cannot even begin to describe how amazing my baby shower was. my sister and best friends truly out did themselves and i'm so overwhelmed with joy and love. from the invitation to the food to the decorations, everything was so amazingly perfect and full of all my most favorite things, including everyone who showed their support at the shower. aric, cohen & i are incredibly blessed with such wonderful people in our lives.

the invitations were absolutely adorable! black and white and gold glitter with stripes and polka dots - i'm sold!! kendall accented the back and the kraft envelopes with sponge dots - i mean, how cute is that?

all sealed up with the thatcher address stamp and gorgeous wide blue polka dot washi tape!

i mean, how gorgeous are my hostesses? also, most of us are pregnant - how fun is that? christy rife {pregnant with baby rife - due february 2015}  |  jordan lindley  |  brittany lee  |  allison carter {pregnant with my niece, monroe scarlett - due november 2014}  |  me & cohen jennings  |  kendall porter {pregnant with nora belle - due october 2014}  |  brittany whitehead {pregnant with weston gray - due october 2014}  |  not pictured: our wonderful ashley armstrong {we missed you ash!}

gumball stirrers + champagne + blackberry & mint water! how adorable and yummy!

y'all: i screamed when i saw the cups. you know how much me and my friends love cups! i absolutely adore the navy blue + silver combination and his initials on the front are so cute and preppy i just couldn't stop staring at them! i am definitely going to use these for his first birthday party!

and how perfect are the multi-colored straws? of course i chose light blue to go in my dark blue cup! {kappa reference?}

when i saw this cake i think my jaw opened for 20 minutes straight. it is by far the cutest thing i've ever seen in my life. navy polka dots + multi-colored polka dots to match the plates and napkins - i mean, it's ridiculous cute! the giraffes at the top are just about the sweetest thing and i love how the little baby giraffe has a blue bow tie on! seeing cohen's name on the cake made it so real - it really melted my heart!

i love love loved the food spread at the shower. i mean a pickle + ice cream bar! what more could a pregnant gal want? there were 3 delicious pickle flavors to chose from {my favorite was spicy!} and they were beautifully tied in navy + white striped ribbon.

the ice cream bar featured the cutest little paper cup holders in stripes & polka dots with wooden spoons that also had dots on them! i can't even tell you how much i was drooling over this spread of food + decor!

tons of toppings graced the counter to add to your ice cream! yum! also, how darling are those mini wooden spoons? i die.

close up of the gorgeous amy cakes cake! i adored the #cohenjennings and food & beverage cards that were watercolor. amazing! i think his name sign will get framed and added to his nursery!

more pregnant gal lover food: chocolate covered potato chips + sweet & spicy bites with bacon: YUM!! these girls did a fantastic job planning out all the details!

of course our traditional "k" photo had to be taken at my baby shower! i can't wait to add miss nora belle and cohen to these!

my sister and i with our baby bumps! i can't wait for miss monroe to get here in november and for cohen to meet his sweet cousins in january! they are going to be the best of friends. also, shout out to my sis for hosting the baby shower at her most gorgeous house! it was the perfect place to celebrate our sweet baby boy!

i can't thank you girls enough for all the time, effort and planning that went in to this. it was by far the most adorable, beautiful baby shower i've ever seen and i'm so blessed you did it all for me and my sweet little man. i will cherish this day for the rest of my life. thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
